Sumeet & Rita – E-Session

I know, I know… I’m a slacker.  I’m really bad at this blogging thing.  I’ve been really busy lately, so I haven’t had  a chance to update this thing… but I promise I will start to put up more new stuff.  I’m really going to try to post at least once a week here, so just bare with me for the time being.  On to the post:

Remember the good ‘ol days of Undergrad?  I sure do.  It was one of those times when you moved away on your own for the first time, had very little responsibility, learned new and exciting things, and met many new and wonderful people?  It’s one of the best moments of an individuals life, and my experience was no exception.  One of the most fascinating things I find to this day, is how many people I actually met while I was in undergrad, and how I run into old friends just randomly.  I met Sumeet back in 2005 through my friend LT (who’s wicked engagement pics will be posted soon), when they would all be chilling in one tiny college apartment.  I haven’t really kept up with most of the guys after I graduated.   Well, Sumeet ended up going to UNC Law School, and he also ended up getting engaged.  His fiance, Rita, wanted to get some cool engagement pictures, so they came to me.

Both Sumeet and Rita are having their wedding overseas, since most of the family resides there.  This is why they told me that these Engagement pictures were pretty much the only things they could get while they were still here.  They both wanted something new, something fresh, and something that was non-traditional.  This was great, because that’s exactly what I planned on giving them anyway.  Since this would be the only thing they would have here, we decided to do an extended Engagement session… and really go all out.  I had a blast with these two.  They are a very loving and fun couple.  The whole time we were joking around, and having loads of fun.  I really wanted to try to capture their personality and the interaction between them in this set.  They were very easy to work with, and we all had a great time.  These were def. some of the best E-session shots I’ve had thus far.  This was a long session, so there are loads of pictures.  So without further delay, the pictures:

Wanted to do a Bollywood Scene

I told her to slap him if he said anything stupid or offensive.  This was literally after the first thing he said.

My Favorite shot from the set!

My 2nd Favorite shot from the set

Bloopers

Me:”OK, both of you stare out in front of you holding your hands”
Sumeet: Like this?

This shot would have been perfect… but then the Car decides to leave right as I’m taking the pictures

Trying to mimic a fashion shoot

I love this shot.  Rita maintains her pose the whole time, even when random strangers are walking by and staring them down.

Throwing up gang signs.  Rita obviously not amused.

Congratulations Summet & Rita for your engagement

Just for fun, here’s a video that was done for their party by one of their relatives.  I thought it was very funny, so check it out:

Sajid & Maryum – Walima

Here is the final post for Sajid & Maryum. This was the Walima ceremony thrown by Sajid’s family. For this one, I traveled all the way up to Dover, Deleware.   This was a more relaxed shoot compared to the wedding. My favorite shots from this session was when she was getting ready. There was some natural light coming through the window that morning, and it made the pictures really stand out. We drove around downtown and got a few shots for the couples session, and then headed to the hotel for the ceremony.

My Favorite shot… if you couldn’t tell

Sajid & Maryum – Wedding

Ok Folks, time for round 2. I’m truly sorry for the long delay, but I’ve been busy with weddings and sessions lately. Not to mention it took me almost 2 weeks figure out how to incorporate a slideshow on the blog. You would think they could have made things easier with wordpress. The reason I chose to do a slideshow instead of the typical image post is becauase… well, there’s 80 images. Yes, I chose my favorite ones, and there were still 80 images from the wedding. Lucky for you, you don’t have to scroll forever. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the slideshow.

A little info on the wedding: The wedding took place in Youngstown Ohio. Maryum wanted some getting ready shots, so I proceeded to a fancy pants spa. Now being a heterosexual male, I’ve never been inside a spa/boutique… so the experience was a bit odd. However, I was surrounded by beautiful women working and getting work done on them, so I managed to survive through the fiasco 😀 Every wedding I’ve covered thus far, one thing has always been consistent. The amount of time it takes the groom to get ready, is exponentially larger for the bride. A formula I use in my head is grooms hours x 2 or 3 = brides hours. The getting ready phase for Maryum was almost 3 and a half hours long, whereas Sajid and the groomsmen were ready in literally 15 minutes. I encounter this at almost every wedding, and it cracks me up every time.

The wedding was very lavish, with lots of colors and festive events. The cake was one of the most spectacular cakes I’ve ever seen (even till this day). The figurine on top of the cake were miniture versions of the bride and groom in their traditional outfits. The detail on them were remarkable, and quite accurate to the real clothing. The cooler part however, was the fact that the mini-maryum figurine’s dress poured down the cake, and basically formed the main design. I don’t really care much for cakes at weddings, but theirs was definitely a show stopper. The wedding was full of festivities as well as various emotions. The food was good, the cake was good, and the couple were great. What more could you ask in a wedding.

Without further delay, I present you the images:
