This post has been long overdue, but finally… it’s here at last. The following post contains images from Swapna and Ravi’s wedding last year. They are a wonderful couple, and planned one heck of a wedding. Both Swapna and Ravi are South Indian, so this was my very first South Indian wedding. Needless to say, I was very excited about seeing it… let alone cover it. Though I didn’t know much about a traditional South Indian wedding, Swapna was a real sweetheart and filled me in on all the details. This was the longest wedding I have done for anyone… even to this date. Some ceremonies started early in the morning, and we didn’t stop the party till midnight. There was also a Mehndi session a few days before the wedding, and a special puja ceremony the day after the wedding. Even after I narrowed down my favorite images, the count was over a staggering 200!!! Since there are so many images, I made it into a slideshow to make it a bit easier for everyone to navigate. The following post is for a wedding in Virginia I covered a while back.  This is no ordinary wedding though.  This is the wedding of my good friend Ibraheem.  I met the guy in undergrad, and we’ve been good friends since.  He’s a very wise man, but very down to earth at the same time.  I especially like Ibraheem because I can whip him in Tennis whenever I want… and I’m sure Ib will challenge me to a game right after he reads this 😉  This was a fun trip because most of my friends came with me, I got to see another side of Virginia, and I met some really nice people as well.  Special shout out to my VA boys, Marcus and Asif .  Ib didn’t want to share all his images online, but I posted a select few of my favorites with his permission.  So without further delay, I present to you the wedding + walima of Ibraheem & Sana.

Randomness

Someone else took this shot of me, and I thought it was good… so I put up a picture of me for a change.  Afterall, you need to know the face behind the camera, right?

I met Yasmin back in 2004 through a friend while I was still at ECU.  She’s a very smart girl, very organized, a natural leader, yet still quite down to earth.  She is the person who single handedly organized everything for her friend Nadia’s Nikkah… which can be seen just 2 posts back.  I asked Yasmin when it would be her turn, and I also jokingly told her that if she and her friends book me in the next two months, they would get a discount.  She just said “Mannn… I don’t know if I’ll ever get married, so don’t get your hopes up.”  Literally 2 weeks later, I get a call from Yasmin… “Sahid, I need a photographer for my Nikkah” 🙂  I was stunned but happy for her as well! Although Yasmin won’t admit it, I know the real reason she got married that quick is because of my discount 😉
